What we funded
Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal was launched to support and empower local communities to rebuild in a way that works best for them and complement other funding available to affected regions and communities to support their resilience to respond to extreme weather events.
The Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal raised $13,569,666. This amount, plus interest earned, enabled the Trustees, to make grants to 563 projects totalling $14,511,9169.
The Trust Deed mandated that the location of projects funded had to be in a region or district in which a state of emergency was declared for the effects of Cyclone Gabrielle (Cyclone) or other extreme weather events in January and February 2023. The regions and districts are Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, East Coast and Hawkes Bay regions and the Tararua district.
All Appeal Trust funds were distributed by 31 October 2024. See PDFs below for regional breakdown of projects funded.
